The lives of over 35,000 people throughout the region have been improved through a process of strengthening regional and local governments’ capacity for effective investment planning and execution. Employment, higher income and access to basic services are a direct consequence of the implementation of strategic plans in several communes and municipalities. This includes the building of four schools, construction of three drinking water supplies, two sewage systems, four irrigation canals and a market place. It also provided for the asphalting of over 20 village roads and the reconstruction of a thermal bath.
