Cash and Learning Partnership (CaLP)
An initiative by Inter-agency initiative
between Oxfam GB, Save the Children UK and British Red Cross Society

There is a growing recognition in the
humanitarian sector that appropriate cash and voucher transfers can be
an effective tool to support populations affected by crisis in a way
that maintains dignity and choice for beneficiaries while stimulating
local economies and markets.
The Cash
Learning Partnership, or
CaLP, is an inter-agency initiative working to improve the quality of
humanitarian cash and voucher transfer programming across the
humanitarian sector by influencing and interacting with key
stakeholders through capacity building, evidence-based research and
communication of good practice and lessons learned.
Originally formed
as a platform to gather the lessons learnt from the Tsunami emergency
response in 2005, the CaLP has evolved and is today composed by Oxfam
GB, the British Red Cross, Save the Children UK, Action Contre la Faim
and the Norwegian Refugee Council. In 2010 the CaLP partnered with
the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent
Societies to develop and implement new activities for 2011 with
support from ECHO and VISA.
The CaLP is working
to generate cutting edge information to guide Cash programming and to
build the capacity of implementing agencies through dissemination of
knowledge and increasing access to practical training. With the
launch of its new website, www.cashlearning.org,
the CaLP invites you to keep informed of upcoming learning events,
trainings on cash transfer programming, and activities in CaLP’s 5
focal countries: Pakistan, the Philippines, Kenya, Niger and Zimbabwe.
The website also provides a link to the CaLP’s online community of
practice, the Cash
Learning Discussion Group,
which has over 400 members active in cash and voucher transfer
programming worldwide.
