Job Description |
|
|
- Supervise the housekeeping and maintenance operations of building and premises.
Supervise contractual staff,including electricians, carpenters,janitors; gardeners and security guards.
- Supervise the operations of cafeteria recommend procedures to ensure conformity with service and health standards and carry out regular inspections.
- Provide technical advice on space planning/allocation both in the regional and country offices,including renovation, construction, furnishings and materials.
- Evaluate construction and refurbishing bids/proposals including, adherence to international standards, fire and electrical codes, bill of quantities, comparative costing, comfort cooling load calculations, energy conservation schemes, etc.and make recommendations for award.
- Assist ASO, AO/NPO and DAF in implementing emergency procedures,ie.organizing fire drills,ensuring all fire fighting equipment is in good working condition, preparing reports, etc.
- Assist ASO and AO/NPO with value assessments of WHO buildings and other property for insurance purposes.

Qualifications :
- University degree in Engineering and Architecture as well as courses in writing,public speaking,information systems and audiovisual services are an advantage.
- Seven years experience in office, construction,building and facilities,maintenance and operations.
- Experience with government procedures, diversity of contracts, insurance, etc.
- Experience in a post with similar functions including handling a large personnel force.
Skills:
- Knowledge of general office procedures and construction projects including sound definition of scope of work requirements, approved budget ceilings (ABCs), technical specifications, tender documents, change orders, necessary permits.
- Solid knowledge of building management operations, government procedures and accounting principles.
- Ability to work with a variety of contractors,& ability to write technical reports.
- Knowledge of computer systems development and integration, manipulation of computer-based application software,including computer graphic design, desktop layout and presentation, excel and similar.
