- To project manage each fundraising activity according to stringent budgets and tight timetables. To negotiate costs (worth hundreds of thousands of pounds) and manage schedules with suppliers and ensure that these are adhered to.
- To contribute to the planning process and development of direct marketing strategy. This will include contributing to the development and implementation of a ‘mid-level donor retention strategy’ – in essence a tailored communication programme to those donors who have shown a propensity to give at higher levels.
- To manage the creative development of direct marketing campaigns by liaising with the internal creative team and/or direct marketing agencies primarily about copy, design and scripts.
- To proof-read copy, write new copy for appeals as and when necessary, as well as updating copy where appropriate (including fulfilment copy) and making recommendations on suggested improvements.
- To collate and produce results for each campaign and to provide detailed analysis and recommendations for future campaigns, in order to maximise the income raised for the British Red Cross.
- To create results reporting spreadsheets (including analysis of testing), record and monitor results daily from external agencies and supporter services and to update the team weekly with a summary of campaign performance via team meetings and emails.
- To collate and produce written campaign review and results documents with key findings and recommendations to be taken forward into future campaign activities.
- To carry out research internally, within the British Red Cross and wider Red Cross Movement, including liaising with Communications and International Aid, to gather information, case studies and photos for use in direct marketing campaigns.
- To liaise with internal teams within the Individual Giving department – including the Regular Giving and Supporter services teams on response handling and processing requirements, complaints and queries relating to our fundraising methods and fundraising systems on donor data selections.
- To produce data selection briefs following segmentation protocols and definitions and request data from internal departments for supporter development direct marketing activity. Brief all internal departments on campaigns as appropriate.
- To update the direct marketing team schedules, procedures and protocols for supporter development as and when necessary, including the supporter services activity schedule, the supporter development testing spreadsheet, regular giving campaign procedures and the annual results summary sheets.
