Job Description |
|
|
- Capacity Building Advisor, OVC Umbrella Grants Project : S/he implements and scales up technical assistance in a manner that leads to adoption and sustainable use of tools and approaches by building client awareness of current gaps, achieve buy-in on the viability and need for an tool or approach, and train client staff on the use of tools or approaches, utilizing expertise in some or all of the following key areas of technical assistance mentioned in the general description above.
- S/he builds and manages professional relationships with key stakeholders, and provides reliable, high-quality follow through on all obligations to clients and other parties.
- S/he communicates with clients, donors and other external parties as requested,including contributing to written reports and/or presentations.
- S/he develops tools and interventions to address client needs,including manuals and new systems, and utilizing existing tools, with a focus on incorporating these tools into client’s operations.
- S/he strengthens the managerial and technical capacity of local partners by conducting a needs assessment of their capacity creating an action plan.
assisting in implementing their action plan; and actively assists them in managing their grants in the first year of the award.
- The Capacity Building Advisor identifies individual health and development professionals,larger NGOs, and training institutions to assist with implementing technical assistance.

Qualifications :
- Master’s degree in public health, international development, public policy, public administration, management, social sciences or a related discipline. Preference given to candidates with experience in OVC and/or HIV/AIDS.
- A minimum of 6 years experience in institutional capacity building across the areas of strengthening leadership, organizational development, and strategic planning in local organizations.
- Demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and in managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and in meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
- Strategic thinker with people skills and managerial, coordination, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a team, and to contribute to developing a new project in a dynamic environment.
- Proven programmatic, technical, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with professional colleagues in a broad range of local public institutions and NGOs.
- Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
