Job Description |
|
|
- Assist in the review of AWF operational effectiveness, operational strategies, procedures and manuals and setting of priority areas of intervention.
- Conduct project cycle missions and assist in development of a pipeline of national and transboundary WRM projects, programs and studies; appraisal and implementation.
- Assist the project screening process and build up of AWF WRM project portfolio.
- Assist in grant negotiations, approval and execution.
- Initiate and lead recipients’ awareness and understanding through training in applying the AWF operational procedures, project management and quality reporting and timely achievement of project objectives.
- Undertake and/or lead a multi disciplinary team in project identification, preparation, appraisal, implementation supervision and completion.
- Assist the AWF Coordinator in the coordination and collaboration with the partners in the area of WRM in Africa, in particular with AMCOW, River Basin, Organizations, Regional Economic Communities, CSOs, and development partners in implementation of AWF activities.
- Propose projects and programs to be financed in collaboration with other financing institutions.
- Assist the AWF Coordinator in donors’ meetings, regional and international meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops dealing with infrastructure development issues.

Qualifications :
- At least, a Master’s degree in Water Resources Management or closely related disciplines such as Water Resources Engineering, Civil or Hydraulic Engineering, Water and Sanitation Engineering or Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Irrigation Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in national and transboundary water resources management operations , including project preparation and management with relevant experience in the formulation and implementation of national and transboundary water sector programs and projects in Africa.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking project cycle activities particularly project identification, preparation and appraisal and preparation of operational strategies and action plans.
- Ability to conceptualize complex problems of national and transboundary integrated water resources management for sustainable development and to apply innovative approaches and work methods while remaining efficient.
- Proven ability to build and lead a team of professional staff, and utilize their talent and expertise in a productive way.
- Ability to build partnerships and deliver results that meet the needs and long-term interest of AWF clients.
- Strong interpersonal relationships and ability to work in a team environment of different cultures and nationalities.
