 Job Description
 The Commercialization Officer will be based in Seattle working with the Brazil project team on commercialization and market development activities. Specific responsibilities for the Commercialization Officer include:

  • Lead relationships with specific Ultra Rice manufacturing partners. Develop and negotiate license agreements, coordinate with the team’s technical staff to ensure production of the highest quality product for pilot introduction efforts.
  • Lead relationships with downstream specific rice milling partners. Contribute to business case development for engaging the millers, develop and negotiate appropriate agreements, and support pilot introduction efforts into retail stores.
  • Lead relationships with specific retailer partners to engage them in pilot introduction of Ultra Rice and promotional efforts. Develop their value propositions and negotiate appropriate agreements.
  • Support relationships with partners involved in the social marketing of Ultra Rice. Support the translation of market research findings into insights that can be effectively utilized by the PR and advertising firms involved, work with millers and retailers to optimize the use of the social marketing messages.
  • Coordinate pilot introduction activity, synchronizing the availability of fortified rice at retail stores with the social marketing messages in specific geographies.
  • As needed, manage the work of other partners in Brazil who are deemed critical to the project’s fundraising and/or advocacy targets.
  • Support efforts to expand the funding and introduction of Ultra Rice globally, including contribution to concept notes and proposals.
 Candidate Profile
 Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing value propositions for partner engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiations around pricing, supply availability, intellectual property, etc. with private sector partners.
  • Experience in developing social marketing campaigns in developing country settings highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business models for reaching consumers at the base of the economic pyramid in developing countries desired.
  • Portuguese language ability a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%-20% time annually.
  • MBA with 7-10 years of marketing, market research, agreement negotiation, intellectual property management, and/or commercialization strategy development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
