Job Description |
|
|
- Participate in the SD4C global team as focal point for International Secretariat;
- Promote and support increased mainstreaming of social policy principles in Gland-based programmes and units (e.g. NIS, CSPU, Operations, POM etc.), including by facilitating inputs from broader SD4C team;
- Ensure coordination and exchange between SD4C team (which includes the regional networks) and the “Global & Regional policy unit” on advocacy issues where social and development perspectives are critical (e.g., MDGs, Green Economy, CBD, etc);
- With the SD4C team, and as member of the team, ensure support is provided to the regional networks and that the work in the regional networks is effectively highlighted with the International Secretariat;
- Promote and support development of regional social policy networks (SD4C in Africa, Asia & LAC);
- Knowledge management – maintain Intranet and panda.org pages (on behalf of/in conjunction with team);
- Representation for WWF at appropriate international fora on issues of conservation and social development;
- Provides a radar function, analysis and advice on social development issues to support WWF conservation priorities;
- Provides capacity building opportunities in social development work to strengthen priority programmes;
- Other activities as requested by Director, Global and Regional Policy.

Qualifications:
- University qualifications in social development issues, international affairs, social and environmental policy or significant related experience;
- Deep understanding of social development issues, trends and developments;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relationships between environment, economy and social issues with relation to development;
- Understanding of the role of international and regional organisations and governance mechanisms.
- Demonstrated delivery of outcomes in a devolved decision making environment;
- Ability to show linkages between field work and policy processes at a local, regional and international level;
- Ability to digest information produce clear analysis of the overall political picture, options for next steps and make recommendations to internal and external audiences;
- Capacity to work independently in an intense team environment and have good people skills;
- English mother tongue, other languages an advantage;
- Highly computer literate, competent in use of spreadsheets and other electronic tools;
