Job Description |
|
|
- Manage team of local and international staff, including country staff and local and international consultants.
- Responsible for ensuring that inputs of all staff support implementation of GAIN goals and strategies.
- Responsible for identification and recruitment of local consultants; advise and support GAIN Program Managers in identifying and recruiting international consultants tasked with providing supporting to Afghanistan programs.
- Monitor and provide support to Executing Agencies implementing GAIN country activities, including financial, technical, and program oversight and monitoring of progress toward achievement of project deliverables; ensure that Executing Agencies have sufficient resources to achieve project deliverables.
- Provide local information and logistical support for the country Assessment Mission and other future GAIN missions.
- Based on the Situation Analysis and Assessment Mission Report and with input from other GAIN staff and consultants, write the first draft of the schematic nutrition agenda.
- Manage preparations for the initial Stakeholder Meeting to share results of GAIN preparatory work.
- Ensure that feedback from this meeting is well documented and incorporated into future plans.

Qualifications:
- Masters degree or PhD in food science, nutrition, public health, economics, business administration, or a suitable equivalent.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in the food industry and/or international or national health and nutrition organizations and/or in the public sector with suitable program management experience.
- Afghanistan work experience highly desirable.
- Experience in delivering nutrition programs.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment is critical.
Skills:
- Excellent project management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Proven communication and advocacy skills and ability to work in an environment requiring liaison and collaboration with multiple actors including government representatives, consumer groups, food industry representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Understanding of nutrition issues in developing country settings.
- Experience in working in hardship posts, including conflict and/or complex humanitarian settings.
