Job Description |
|
|
The Canadian Red Cross is looking for a dynamic individual to assist with our Humanitarian Issues and Youth Engagement strategies. Work cooperatively with other Humanitarian Issues staff and volunteers to design, organize and evaluate activities and curriculum aimed at engaging newcomer youth in relevant humanitarian issues. This position would be ideal for dynamic and high-energy individuals who enjoy working with youth ages 16-20 and in a community setting. Vital pieces of this position are to support the engagement of youth in the Canadian Red Cross in general, as well as head/or support the planning and facilitation committees for various youth-based initiatives.
- Plans, implements and evaluates engagement activities and curriculum surrounding humanitarian issues.
- Assist with reporting and facilitation of projects involving newcomer and Canadian-born youth
- Engage, supervise and support volunteers.
- Other duties or supports as required in the facilitation of youth engaging projects.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications include must be returning to post-secondary educational institution in the fall; enrolled in Education, Social Sciences, Development, Social Work or related faculty; and - Experience working with Microsoft programs (advanced skills in Word, Excel and Access a definite asset.)
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated problem solving ability, attention to detail and flexible in fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of people
- Some experience in curriculum development preferred.
