The Organization:
Headquartered at The Interchurch Center, in New York
City. The General Board of Global Ministries is the international
global mission agency of The United Methodist Church, its annual
conferences, missionary conferences, and local congregations. The work
of mission in virtually any context involves relationships—interactions
in the name of Jesus Christ between and among persons and organizations.
Our work actively supports personnel, projects, and mission partners
in more than 120 countries.
The Position:
Mission Communications is seeking a Projects/Special
Events Coordinator that will work within a team environment to ensure
professional handling of day-to-day coordination of projects, special
events and promotional campaigns that reflect the mission and ministry
of Global Ministries. The Ideal candidate would be able to organize,
support, and facilitate management for Global Ministries’ communication
projects and special events to support the ministry and vision of Global
Ministries; Work within a team environment to meet project deadlines,
print schedules, and enhance visual and media presence at events. This
person: would have to be informed on industry best practices for
project/event management, including schedules and maintains
communication with speakers, vendors, and participants; coordinates and
monitors event timelines; prepares communication materials to promote,
support and publicize these activities; attends events as required;
participates in regular communication team/design services meetings, and
provide updates on projects and events to enable the sharing of this
information.

Bachelors Degree or equivalent related experience
Candidates should have one (1) to two (2) years of
experience in a project coordination/event planning-related field and
familiarity with organizing within religious environment. Must be a
well-organized team player who is able to produce large volumes of high
quality planning and activities while working congenially within a
time-pressurized atmosphere; Possess ability to handle multiple
deadlines and projects; Must have ability to work within project
management database and possess ability to establish and maintain
cooperative relationships with internal and external constituents and
vendors. Knowledgeable about UMC structure as it relates to
constituencies, annual conferences, and other United Methodist partners;
Familiarity with the mission of The United Methodist Church and the
General Board of Global Ministries.
