Job Description |
|
|
- Lead the Campaigns Team in developing a dynamic UK and Global campaigns vision and strategy for WaterAid, aimed at achieving water and sanitation for all, whilst delivering on annual plans and budgets.
- Support and initiate strategies to strengthen the campaigning activities and ambitions of our teams, and partners and build strong organisational relationships; within the UK office, in our 20+ Country Programmes, 4 regional offices in Africa and Asia, and with WaterAid in America, Australia and Sweden.
- Line manage the ‘End Water Poverty’ coalition secretariat (an international NGO coalition which is hosted within the WaterAid Campaigns team), to develop a vibrant international campaign and effective international coalition calling for water and sanitation for all.
- As a member of the Policy and Campaigns Department Senior Management team (comprising the Director, the Head of Policy, and the Head of Campaigns), take shared responsibility for shaping both the Department and the Organisations strategic direction and development with regard to advocacy (which encompasses research/policy/ campaigning/media work led by various teams throughout the organisation), and helping to deliver the influencing ambitions of the WaterAid Strategy 2009-2015.

| Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree level education.
- Track record of leading successful campaigning and advocacy work, to lobby and influence institutions and governments.
- A thorough and demonstrable understanding of international political institutions and processes (eg UK Government, EU, G8, UN).
- Awareness of the potential for achieving political change through NGO campaigning.
- Proven senior leadership and team management experience.
- Ability to represent WaterAid at senior levels and to relate to people from diverse backgrounds, eg speaking to the media/conferences.
- Ability to network and communicate with NGOs, government officials and politicians, working with partners in Africa and Asia.
- Strategic, innovative and creative thinker with ability to deliver tangible results.
- A commitment to WaterAid’s values and a working style that reflects these.
Desirable:
- Language skills (eg working knowledge of French)
- International Development, poverty eradication and/or human rights experience.
