Job Description |
|
|
- delivering in-service workshops and professional development to increase the English proficiency of the AKS,D teaching faculty.
Supervise the preparation of: Courses of study for each class level. Examinations for all classes.
- Hold regular monthly meetings with all Department members; to discuss matters relating to the Department and to exchange ideas on content, instructional strategies and student evaluation. A copy of each meetings minutes must be provided to the Head of Education.
- Retain and file up-to-date copies of all course outlines with sufficient detail to allow for the effective co-ordination of the courses of study.
- Assist teachers in the Department to improve their instructional strategies.
Ensure that teachers in the Department maintain adequate: Records of work covered. Records of student marks and assessment. Files of tests and evaluations for each course of studies.
- Prepare an
Annual budget for supplies, resources and equipment for the Department. Annual inventory of the equipment in the Department.
- Teach for the required time as assigned by the Head of Education or Heads of School.
- Assist and cooperate with other Department Heads in the general organization and management of the school, and in the maintenance of discipline of students.
Make at least two informed visits and two formal visits per year to each teacher within the Department to ensure that courses of study are being followed correctly and that records are in order.
- Review textbooks and recommend suitable texts to the Head of Education.

Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level and have a postgraduate teaching qualification from an accredited university.
- At least 5 years experience as Head of a department at a reputable international school with the ability to demonstrate management and organizational skills.
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience in both international and local curriculum.
- Excellent team-building skills, with proven experience in leading, motivating and empowering people.
- Be innovative, dynamic, enthusiastic and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Experience with IB /IGCSE curriculum.
- Have a good grasp of curriculum management, design, implementation and evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
