Job Description |
|
|
- Develop and implement effective Oxfam America-HARO humanitarian media strategy and guidelines targeting national and international media outlets, and assist in development of policy, advocacy and communications strategies.
- Contribute to the development of programs strategy papers and overall agency/HARO strategic documents.
- Sustain and cultivate new public and decision maker interest in the ever-changing humanitarian situation in Ethiopia; through various media tools and vehicles; videos, pitching stories; messaging, vigorous networking with nation and international media outlets; and close coordination with Oxfam America and Oxfam International regional and global communication posts.
- Compile daily/regular national and international press clips on issues related to or affecting Oxfam’s humanitarian work in Ethiopia.
- Attract and shape new attention to Ethiopia humanitarian crisis through new/alternative media outlets and through innovative tactics.
- This will include influencing the public and decision makers in target countries to take steps to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and suffering.
- Coordinate and mange specific media-related activities implemented under EHT (Ethiopian Humanitarian Team) and arrange for media availability and interviews when needed, involve in RiC teleconference with media and advocacy group of Oxfam international.

Qualifications & Experience :
- University Degree (BA/MA or BSC/MSC) preferably in the areas of Social Science, Communication, law and other related fields of study.
- At least five years employment experience in the areas of information, communication and media related works.
- Documentation work.
- Experience in Humanitarian and Development work.
- High degree of skill and proven experience in journalism or other communications background.
- Demonstrable training and/or understanding of humanitarian relief and development work and principles
- Proven ability to work under harsh conditions and travel to conflict and post-conflict areas.
- Ability to manage, analyzes, synthesize and communicate complex and fast-moving information.
