Job Description |
|
|
- Lead the operationalization of the agreed project strategy under the economic empowerment portfolio.
- Ensure compliance and overall results monitoring and management of KPI’s agreed under the portfolio within the stipulated timeframe, quality and value for money.
- Commission need based and result oriented feasibility studies, business planning and market research to support women’s groups in their economic activities.
- Identify experts and technical resource agencies to undertake capacity development and value chain upgradation programmes for women and ensure that women have access to quality services and expertise through woman’s empowerment centers, MNGO’s, formal financial institutions, technical resource agencies, government bodies and other partners.
- Assess, analyze, design, prepare and implement district specific livelihood plans with support from district teams, MNGO’s and theme leads.
- Facilitate transfer of tool boxes, training materials, compendiums, strategies piloted tested in 500 villages to the new project villages for building capacities of poor women.
- Provide technical and sector-wise advice to MNGO’s, district teams and technical resource agencies on key livelihood and enterprise development strategies, annual work plans, quarterly plans within the overall key performance deliverables under the economic empowerment portfolio.
- Upgrade financial & business planning skills of women for setting up micro and small enterprises, accessing credit/loans from financial institutions and establishing linkages with markets and retail outlets for product sales through MNGO’s Technical resource agencies, government agencies and banks.
- Facilitate and support creation of business service providers and ancillary units that cater to the growing requirements of women producers and their enterprises in the project area.
- Analyze options for setting up economic institutions of women and assess their viability in the prevailing socio-economic and political context.
- Identify relevant government departments, technical and research institutions, civil societies, donor programs and stakeholders for linkages of livelihood and enterprise development programs at district and state level.
- Ensure linkages of livelihood plans with existing national and state programmes/schemes to meet the expectations and demands of poor women.
- Develop sustainability plans and exit strategies for each of the economic components and sub-sectors supported by the project in consultation with theme leads, women’s groups, field implementing partners, project team members, government, other key stakeholders and potential partners and ensure adequate ownership of the same by women and community groups.

Qualifications:
- Master degree or equivalent in relevant field – development economics, rural development, political economy, public policy, and/or business administration from country’s premier institution.
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience of managing medium to large livelihood promotion and enterprise development projects with poor communities
- At least 2 to 3 years of substantive engagement with projects focusing on women’s empowerment at state/national level
- knowledge of gender in development issues and sensitivity to deal with diverse sections of the society
- Experience in value chain development, cluster based development, business planning and livelihood security an advantage
- Relevant experience of working in a multi-sectoral team and as a team worker
- Relevant project experiences in Uttar Pradesh is strongly desired
- Strong knowledge and understanding of economic development and livelihood promotion especially in the context of Uttar Pradesh
- Competent analytical and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills (word processor, spreadsheet, power-point)
- Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English including excellent writing skills
- Fluency in Hindi.
