Job Description |
|
|
- Assist with reception coverage, including answering phones, greeting office visitors, replying to requests for assistance in immigration cases, and collect and distribute mail;
- Screen asylum calls, including explaining our asylum legal representation program and referring non-asylum seekers to appropriate legal service organizations;
- Maintain an inventory of office supplies and order additional supplies when necessary; and
- Assist in the intern recruitment process, including reviewing applications and interviewing candidates.
- Compile a daily list of media articles for the Business and Human Rights program;
- Monitor and attend hearings on a range of program’s focus areas;
- Update country condition reports for the Refugee Protection program;
- Assist in the planning of HRF-sponsored events and meetings;
- Research legislators’ background and voting histories;
- Coordinate with other HRF staff on government advocacy initiatives as needed.

- Interest in human rights and American policymaking;
- Proficiency in Spanish or French;
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and to work in a professional manner;
- Previous work or internship experience in an office environment;
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills;
- Capacity to take initiative, prioritize duties, and be a team player; and
- Outstanding interpersonal skills;
