Job Description |
|
|
- Assist with the research, design, production and dissemination of research publications including briefing papers, working papers and one-off publications that support Publish What You Fund’s advocacy and communications work.
- Assist with the development and dissemination of an annual flagship aid transparency assessment and report.
- Assist with researching future possible activities under the Research and Monitoring workstream, including:The design and delivery of a strategy for budget mapping exercises
- The development and roll out of a series of country websites
- Developing a strategy for southern outreach work
- Future partners for specific research activities such a briefing papers and country case studies
- Research on a particular donor, for example the World Bank or European Union
- Specific lead role is envisaged for:
Designing, commissioning and managing a series of country case studies.
- Development and delivery of training programmes for CSOs in highly aid dependent countries in collaboration with International Budget Partnership and other key partners.
- Liaise with key partners, academics and donors to raise awareness of our work and obtain their feedback and inputs as necessary.
- Provide general support to the Research and Monitoring workstream, particularly in relation to the launching of a southern outreach strategy.
- Provide general support to the Director of Publish What You Fund on research activities as required.
- Expected tasks include accompanying the Director to workshops and meetings; taking minutes and preparing briefing notes; and providing ad hoc research support as required.
- Assisting with background research and the preparation of proposals for activities under the Research and Monitoring workstream and Publish What You Fund more widely.

Qualifications:
- Detail-focused, organised, self-starter with knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to aid transparency and how it relates to aid effectiveness.
- Experience of undertaking applied research and research methods analysis.
- Able to draft high quality research documents and proposals within a short timeframe and manage competing deadlines.
- Comfortable working with qualitative and numerical data.
- Degree in economics, political science, statistics, international development or similar field.
- Must be willing to travel for approximately 2–3 months each year.
- Experience of designing training programmes for southern-based CSOs.
- Developing country experience in aid or Public Financial Management.
- Experience of drafting, editing, fact-checking and proof-reading text and overseeing the publication and dissemination of publications.
- Planning and overseeing international events such as workshops, trainings and book launches.
- Foreign language skills such as French or Swahili.
