Job Description |
|
|
- Provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to Program Managers responsible for the day to day management of WCC International Programs.
- Provides direct line management and support to Program Managers.
- In liaison with the Director, International Programs, drafts ToRs and job descriptions for new hires and takes a lead role in recruitment of field staff.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of WCC international program strategy and provides guidance for individual country programs and staff.
- Assist with the development of War Child Canada and War Child International strategy in liaison with the Director of International Programs.
- Develop funding proposals and budgets, liaising with donors as required in co-ordination with Program Managers.
- Develops new programs and projects through orientation and assessment visits to war affected areas and international project sites. Review and draft proposals with input from the field and Director of International Programs.
- Leads the development and dissemination of WCC best practices in conjunction with relevant staff.

Qualifications:
- Masters degree in International Development /Relations or related subject. Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, work under pressure and manage multiple time-sensitive priorities.
- Minimum three to five years middle management experience in complex development programs in developing countries. Excellent management and leadership abilities; effective team builder; proactive thinker. Substantial experience in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, tools and systems.
- Very strong writing and verbal skills for project proposals, reports and communications. Strong technical skills in or specialization in at least one of the WCC program sectors Strong financial management skills. Organizational skills with strong planning and implementation skills.
- Experience with participatory methods of proposal development and writing successful proposals and reports. Experience of organizational development and capacity building strengthening in a complex international development environment. Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Excellent written and spoken English and French.
- Spanish is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Diplomacy and negotiation skills.
- Ability to use initiative and work with minimal supervision. Ability to work well with a team.
- Willingness and ability to regularly travel to insecure environments and to comply with security protocols. Adaptability and flexibility.
