Job Description |
|
|
- Provide strategic leadership and coordination of technical support and programming initiatives:
- Oversee HIV Unit initiatives (e.g. publications, trainings, databases, etc) to ensure their usefulness and quality.
- Field requests for technical assistance from regions and/or country programs and identify support within or outside the Unit.
- Ensure that agency, departmental and HIV Unit strategies are implemented.
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of select technical advisors, program assistants and consultants.
- Participate in or facilitate strategic planning sessions and project design workshops.
- Attend in-house meetings to provide perspective and ideas from the HIV Unit.
- Foster relationships with other organizations-potential donors, partners, networks, international agencies, etc. in the HIV/AIDS field.

Qualifications:
- DrPH, MD, PhD, or Masters degree and equivalent experience, in Public Health or related field.
- Eight to 15 years of relevant international working experience in an advisory or management role, preferably with five to seven years’ experience working in the field contributing to or managing HIV projects in multiple regions.
- Previous relevant experience in a regional technical advisory role required.
- Candidates should also have experience developing successful proposals for external donor funding and have been published.
- Experience with US Government grant (e.g. MYAPs, TAPs, PEPFAR, etc.) including proposal writing and implementation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to present effectively at conferences, networks, and through publications.
- Strong technical capacity in all aspects of HIV.
- Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring, and other formal and non-formal methods.
