Job Description |
|
|
- Serve as project director on several projects overseeing management of design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, supervising project staff, liaising with ICRW support units and managing partner relationships.
- Develop one or more areas of research and programs focusing on the linkages between women’s empowerment and reproductive health and HIV.
- Research programs that complement ongoing research efforts and contribute to achieving ICRW’s overall strategic objective.
- Work with team members to create a vision for a coherent program of research, and lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and dissemination of project results.
- Manage own portfolio and that of assigned staff and provide technical support and capacity building/training in areas of expertise. Ensures high quality deliverables.
- Maintain professional expertise and recognition outside of ICRW through reviewing of journals, publishing, speaking in relevant forums.
- Author high quality peer reviewed articles in scientific journals as well as popular media articles for advocacy on topical and core women’s issues.
- Serve on coalitions and builds advocacy with a particular focus on combination approaches to address ICRW’s focus areas.
- Develop strategies to finance existing and/or new streams of research.

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (public health, sociology, social demography etc.)
8 years of post-doctoral or 12 years of post master’s experience conducting research and managing projects in developing countries.
- Demonstrated ability to translate research findings into policy and/or programs.
- Strong demographic and epidemiological background would be preferred.
- Knowledge of gender and development issues is essential,including proficiency with theory and concepts, and expertise in relevant tools and methodologies such as gender analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring are required to build capacity of researchers in a team who are highly capable and self-directed.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills required. Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects along with maturity to work effectively with partners, donors, and program and other staff.
- Increasing ICRW’s visibility in local, regional, national, and international arenas through publications in peer-review journals and other publications.
