Job Description |
|
|
- The Haiti emergency and rehabilitation programmes are successfully managed. Christian Aid is represented at all levels, incl. coordination mechanisms and donors, as well as debates on humanitarian response and disaster reduction. All programmes are accountable to donors and beneficiaries.
- The Haiti appeal team delivers a coherent programme linking the humanitarian, advocacy and development programmes within Haiti in line with corporate strategies. Joint responsibility with the Haiti Programme Manager for the implementation of this programme. Binational joint programming with CA in Dominican Republic.
- Robust humanitarian practice and minimum standards in disaster response, as reflected in policies and procedures, are successfully implemented.
- Positive CA reputation. Strong links with UN, donors, ecumenical organisations and other partners/organisations.
- Good relations with the US military whilst they play a key role in the response, within agreed principles.
- Active support to joint advocacy work on Haiti with CA and
Church World Service both in the UK and the USA.
- Enhanced funding for humanitarian activity and high quality reporting achieved through successful relationship building with partners and institutional donors.
- Emergency staff performing to high standards and meeting objectives as a result of effective recruitment and development. Effective capacity building is in place for both staff and partners on emergency response, disaster reduction and implementation.

Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent.
- Relevant post graduate degree in development or related subject desirable.
- of emergency relief, rehabilitation and development issues
- of capacity building tools and techniques
- of Sphere and Red Cross Code of Conduct
- HIV/AIDS, gender and the livelihoods approach in relief and recovery
- of the role of churches and ecumenical organizations in relief and development
- of UN, donors and disaster management
- HAP Standards.
- Spoken and written french and english.
- Desirable:
Of the political, social and economic context of Haiti and the humanitarian and development issues and challenges it faces.
- substantial experience in humanitarian and development work, including time spent living and working in a developing country
- Relevant experience, including strategic planning and management of a large emergency programme and complex budget
- Relevant experience of project/programme management
- Knowledge of global humanitarian and development, including policy and advocacy issues and familiarity with emergency problems relevant to Haiti Public speaking and/or working with the media.
