Job Description

The role

To develop and maintain good quality and consistent relationships with donors; To lead on contract management; To effectively support program teams to develop and plan concept papers and proposals in accordance with country strategy and donor requirements;  to contribute to the implementation of Oxfam Single Management Structure plan in Ethiopia

Dimensions

Contribute to the development of country income and budget planning processes.

Gather and collate information from a wide range of well-defined sources/analyse and communicate complex information to a wide audience with regards to funding opportunities and grant management.

Frequent negotiation and liaison with internal and external stakeholders, influencing significant external donor relations in country and/or globally where appropriate.

Represent Oxfam in donor meetings and some external relationships.

Manage processes according to Oxfam Funding Guidelines, responsible for quality control of funding processes and communications, recommending changes to processes and advising on brand risk management.

Provide professional support, advice and training to managers/budget holders/support services.

Resolve diverse and sometimes complex problems related to funding and donor relationship management.

Co-ordinate and work closely with managing affiliate and implementing affiliate staff.

Some supervision of staff, interns and/or volunteers.

Candidate Profile

Skills:

  • The Person To be successful in this role you will be someone with a strong background in funding and a sound understanding of programme Cycle Management in Emergences and/or Development environment.
  • You will have a proven record of significant experience-based skills in planning, securing and managing funds from institutional donors and UN agencies.
  • Your interpersonal and relationship building skills will be excellent, as will your ability to proactively drive processes forward and deliver real change innovatively.
  • This is an advisory role hence the post holder will be conscientious and able to facilitate simplification of complex issues while working with colleagues in line with Oxfam GBs policies and procedures.
  • You will be good at networking and influencing; representing Oxfam to the donor community. You should be able to represent the programme in a professional manner as well as be sensitive to cultural differences and be able to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts and willing to travel on short visits at short notice.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this position.
