Job Description

Duties:

Under the direct supervision of the CPAPD Manager, The Associate Operations Officer/ Operations Officer will work closely with a team of other Operations Officers, and will be assigned a variety of tasks related to the development and coordination of relationships with IFC partner agencies, including donor countries and philanthropic organizations. Specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Research and communicate key trends among donor partners, including but not limited to ODA, trade and foreign policies;
  • Work closely with Relationship Managers in managing IFC’s relationship with a number of assigned bilateral, multilateral, and non-traditional donors;
  • Support IFC’s fundraising efforts with assigned donors for funding provided through multi-year partnership agreements;
  • Support the fundraising activities of assigned strategic priorities; Provide coordination of donor relations and fundraising activities for various IFC AS activities through the Partnership Practice Group ( PPG);
  • Contribute to preparations for key corporate events, such as the annual WBG Donor Forum and the annual Donor Breakfast;
  • Provide intelligence on donors for internal IFC clients and contribute to knowledge-sharing through the PPG;
  • Prepare relevant strategy papers, briefs, summaries, working papers, reporting and promotional material for internal and external users;
  • Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time to meet emerging corporate requirements;
  • Provide substantive technical input into policy and strategic work such as Partnership Strategies, policy and technical advisory notes (for donor parties);
  • Contribute to and share knowledge on major new corporate initiatives, instruments and requirements.
Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with IFC and its Advisory Services business;
  • Familiarity with IFC Investment Services is a plus;
  • Master’s Degree reflecting substantial course work in areas directly relevant to IFC’s role as a private sector oriented development institution;
  • Understanding of the aid business, fundraising expertise, familiarity with donor agencies, and broad contacts within the donor community. Excellent analytical skills as demonstrated through a track record of qualitative and quantitative research;
  • A minimum five to seven years of professional experience in relevant fields in the area of public and/or private sector development, fundraising, partnerships, public relations or trust fund administration;
  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills, including problem-solving skills. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear communications materials. A strong client service orientation; Previous work in client service and responsibility for fulfillment of service agreements a plus;
  • Strong teamwork orientation, with an ability to work effectively with a range of clients and colleagues including departmental colleagues, IFC AS and investment staff, regional offices, senior management, and senior officials of IFC member countries;
  • Sound judgment and ability to work under minimal supervision, and to exercise individual initiative to meet and anticipate emerging issues and requirements;
  • Flexibility – ability to work under pressure, handle changes in priorities and work on multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Familiarity with computer applications;
  • Willingness to travel.
