Stop Trafficking:
Phenomenon and gravity of human trafficking is on rise worldwide and
India is also
not
untouched with its impact. India today, is a major source, transit as
well as
destination country. All forms of human trafficking exist in India.
There are various reasons for the existence and continuance of human
trafficking
in
India. One of the major reasons is lack of information about the
government and
non
government services and connectivity among the service providers. But,
even
though, India is one of the major achievers in the field of Information
and Communication
Technology, the social welfare sector in India has not fully utilized
the potential
of
the Information and Communication Technology. Therefore, to address
these issues,
http://www.stoptrafficking.in (a
web
portal to combat human trafficking in India) is launched. The web portal
is primarily
a
network of stakeholders – government organizations, non-government
organizations,
academia, civil society, victims and the media - to smoothen the service
delivery
to
victims of human trafficking in India.
The
Initiative is based on the principle that human trafficking is the worst
form
of
slavery and a network of all available services is required to combat
it. The
network can be best strengthened by using the Information and
Communication Technology.
