CRY - Child Rights and You is an Indian Non Government Organisation that catalyses change in the lives of underprivileged children in India by restoring their rights. In a nutshell, CRY believes that the rights approach is the only one that works. And because the alternatives are not just ineffective but illegal and unjust. CRY acts as a catalyst between grassroots-level NGOs and individuals who work with marginalised children, their parents and communities and the public.

CRY's role is that of an enabler, a catalyst between two groups of people.

1) Development organisations and individuals working at grassroots-level with marginalised children, their families and communities

2) People like you, coming together from all walks of life who believe in the rights of children.

A happy, healthy and creative child whose rights are protected and honoured in a society that is built on respect for dignity, justice and equity for all. To enable people to take responsibility for the situation of the deprived Indian child and so motivate them to seek resolution through individual and collective action thereby enabling children to realise their full potential. And people to discover their potential for action and change.

To enable peoples' collectives and movements encompassing diverse segments, to pledge their particular strengths, working in partnership to secure, protect and honour the rights of India's children. Our role is that of an enabler and in so doing, we have been able to not only accomplish numerous milestones but also create an institution that is a unique model of a community movement that takes responsibility for its weakest and most vulnerable members and motivates and catalyses change on their behalf. We work in partnership with individuals and organisations, whom we support financially / non-financially as well as with you, people from all walks of life, who believe in the rights of children. Within CRY too, each function works in unison towards ensuring our vision - equal rights for all children.

In over three decades, CRY has enabled communities in villages and slums across 20 states in India to work towards addressing the root causes of issues like deprivation, adult unemployment, exploitation and abuse - that constrain the rights of children. By mobilising these communities CRY along with its NGO partners have ensured over 1,500,000 children across India with opportunities they could not dream of. None of these micro-miracles would have been possible without the active involvement and support CRY experienced from more than 150,000 individuals like you and organisations in India and overseas.
