The Bristol Myers Squibb has announced a request for proposals for development and implementation of innovative approaches to address SDOH (Social Determinants of Health) and integrate social care and healthcare to reduce health disparities in Brazil, Hungary, India, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
Rationale
The inequalities in healthcare systems present a challenge across the globe. Research has identified that social, environmental, and economic factors lay at the root of many of these inequalities with some studies suggesting that social determinants of health (SDOH) account for between 30-55% of overall health outcomes. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines SDOH as non-medical factors that influence health outcomes and are conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, age, amongst other systems that shape daily life.
