Save the Children is recruiting an Emergency Nutrition Advisor who will provide institutional, technical and strategic guidance and support to Save the Children’s (SC) global work in emergency nutrition. The Advisor will work closely with colleagues across the Save the Children Global Movement to provide technical leadership to design state-of-the-art nutrition programs and provide technical assistance and first response to humanitarian needs, promoting high quality emergency nutrition programming globally. The Advisor will also represent Save the Children US (SCUS) in the broader international nutrition community, assist and support other SCUS teams, as appropriate, and collaborate with Save the Children International (SCI) in defining and advancing SCI’s global nutrition agenda.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Technical Leadership and Support in Emergency Nutrition (50%)
Provide senior level technical expertise and oversight to support the application of evidence-based emergency nutrition interventions and adherence to quality standards and benchmarks
Deploy to Category 1 and 2 emergencies, as needed, to lead emergency nutrition responses (including leading rapid assessments and surveys, devising response plans and master budgets, mobilizing resources, overseeing program implementation, recruitment and procurement);
Provide remote backstopping to Category 1 and 2 humanitarian crisis, reviewing response strategies, sector program plans, supporting recruitment, advocacy/communications/ media strategies.
Work with SCI country offices to strengthen capacity to design and deliver quality emergency nutrition programming through mentorship, trainings, technical workshops and circulation of evidence-based program standards, guidance, tools and learning
Collaborate with nutrition colleagues, more broadly, to ensure emergency nutrition activities are consistent with country strategic directions, and strive toward integration with other sectors and smooth transition from emergency to development.
