Within delegated authority Associate Accountant will be responsible for complex investment operations including corporate action processing within the trade order management system, and coordination with multiple internal teams and counterparties such as Brokers and Custodian.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, reconciles, and processes a range of investment transactions on a regular and recurring basis in the trade order management system related to corporate action entitlements.
  • Responsible for the issuance, set-up and control of post-trade confirmation and affirmation within the order management system, to ensure compliance with global market regulations and UNJSPF Rules and processes.
  • Assists with the preparation and reconciliation of unmatched trades and is responsible for managing corporate action entitlements for multiple accounts daily.
  • Reviews and evaluates financial reports from counterparties and custodians with a view to identifying anomalies and unusual trends. Initiates corrective action.
  • Assists in ensuring accuracy of entitlement transactions, ensures reporting and internal control systems for all activities are functioning effectively and that all relevant records are maintained.
  • Conducts analysis, generate key performance indicators, monitor critical data attributes associated with Middle Office functionalities to support ongoing data transformation initiatives.
  • Plans and collaborates with multiple internal investment teams, including the legal team, global custodian and the counterparties, in the management and administration of communication processes.
  • Researches and analyses information needed to respond to audit findings.
  • Supervises staff as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting or related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced degree.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in finance or investment operations is required.
  • Experience in corporate action processing across multiple account structures and global markets using custodian platform is required.   
  • Experience in daily cash and position reconciliation is required.   
  • Experience in non-contractual entitlement identification and reporting is required.   
  • Experience in post trade investment operation functions, using Bloomberg AIM or other trade order management systems is desirable.   
  • Experience using post trade matching platforms such as DTCC or equivalent is desirable.

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
