The Analyst cultivates and manages a robust network of communication partners and alliances, including national institutions, NGOs, the private sector, and social organizations, to amplify UNFPA's impact. While not directly responsible for fundraising, the Analyst will contribute to resource mobilization efforts by developing compelling communication materials and strategies that showcase UNFPA's impact and value to potential donors.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement a Strategic Communications Framework: Lead the development and execution of a dynamic, evidence-based strategic communications framework that aligns with UNFPA's Country Programme Document (CPD) and prioritizes key SRHR, demographic adaptability, and LNOB issues.
  • This framework will encompass clear objectives, target audiences, key messages, communication channels, and evaluation metrics.
  • Position UNFPA as a Thought Leader: Proactively identify opportunities to position UNFPA as a credible and influential voice on population and development issues, particularly SRHR, through strategic engagement with media, policymakers, influencers, and the public.
  • Drive Narrative Change: Develop and implement innovative communication campaigns that shift public narratives and address misinformation surrounding UNFPA's mandate areas, promoting a positive and informed discourse on SRHR, demographic trends, and human rights.
  • Content Strategy and Development: Oversee the creation of compelling and impactful content across multiple platforms (print, digital, social media, video) that showcases UNFPA's work, highlights success stories, and amplifies the voices of beneficiaries.
  • Ensure content is tailored to specific target audiences and aligned with the overall communication strategy.
  • Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets. Proactively pitch stories, organize press briefings, and provide expert commentary on relevant issues to secure positive media coverage for UNFPA's work.
  • Digital Engagement: Develop and implement a comprehensive digital engagement strategy that leverages social media platforms and online channels to reach target audiences, build online communities, and drive meaningful conversations around UNFPA's mandate areas.
  • Advocacy and Public Awareness: Design and implement targeted advocacy and public awareness campaigns to influence policy decisions, mobilize public support, and promote behavioral change related to SRHR, demographic adaptability, and the rights of LNOB populations.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish clear metrics and evaluation frameworks to track the effectiveness of communication initiatives and make data-driven adjustments to strategies and tactics.
  • Strategic Communication Partnership Development: Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with key communication stakeholders, including media outlets, influencers, communication agencies, and civil society organizations with strong communication expertise, to amplify UNFPA's messages and reach wider audiences.
  • Collaboration on Communication Initiatives: Collaborate with Programme Specialists and Analysts to integrate strategic communication elements into programme design and implementation, ensuring that communication activities are aligned with programme objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement (Communication Focus): Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans specifically for communication-related activities, building strong relationships with key communication partners and fostering collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Advance Degree (minimum Master`s Degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Policies, Political or Social Sciences.  
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in Corporate Communication and Resource Mobilization. 
  • Prior experience in culturally sensitive programming is essential. 
  • Demonstrated experience in advising and supporting initiatives to promote equality responses, population policies, universal health services, and data management good practices. 
  • Experience in culturally sensitive programming is essential. 
  • Experience in implementing "Leave No One Behind" strategies and programmes. 
  • Experience in advising and supporting initiatives to promote gender equality, humanitarian response, population policies, universal health services, and data management best practices.
  • Strong track record of technical leadership and proven ability to produce high-quality results.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; working knowledge of other official UN languages.
