Position Description

EnCompass LLC seeks Data Analyst Specialist candidates for an anticipated five-year United States Agency for International Development (USAID) monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) program in Nepal.  The anticipated USAID/Nepal Monitoring, Evaluation and Leaning (MEL) Activity is expected to be a follow-on to a current contract that assists the Mission in planning, designing, conducting, disseminating, and learning from more rigorous monitoring and evaluation of development activities aligned to the Mission’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy and development objectives.

The position will be full-time and be based in in Kathmandu, with travel throughout the country. Citizens of Nepal are encouraged to apply.

Position Duties and Responsibilities Essential functions:

  • Conduct data cleaning, analysis, and visualization, including advanced statistical analysis for impact evaluations
  • Support the Statistician/Data Analyst in reviewing existing data collection methods, identifying challenges, and developing a well-informed data quality assessment (DQA) protocol
  • Manage and update the DQA protocol, as needed
  • Responsible for interpreting and synthesizing data to highlight evidence and results in reports and one-pagers

Position Requirements


  • Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a relevant field, or a Bachelor’s degree plus additional 2 years of related professional experience;
  • 5+ years of experience in cleaning, and analyzing data

Experience and Skills

  • Experience working with monitoring and evaluation data
  • Experience with sampling
  • Knowledge of both PAPI and CAPI techniques and experience supporting the uptake of electronic data collection systems
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and at least one statistical software (i.e., Stata, SPSS, SAS, R, Python)
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Previous work experience in Nepal required
  • Familiarity with USAID/Nepal Mission is preferred
  • Superior skills in written and verbal English required
  • Proficiency in Nepali preferred
  • Citizens of Nepal are strongly encouraged to apply
