To further strengthen the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, WFP is providing climate-smart agricultural assets such as hydroponics and wicking beds to households to increase their calorie intake and enable them to generate income. WFP also scaled up its resilience-building activities to include greenhouses, vegetable farms, sheep, poultry, and technical and vocational trainings for youth and people with disabilities. These projects reduce people’s vulnerability to external shocks, serve as a safety net, and support livelihoods.
In response to the urgent needs of Palestine, where protracted conflict and economic stagnation have led to widespread food insecurity, WFP delivers life-saving food assistance to the most vulnerable non-refugee Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. To address the ongoing crisis, WFP also focuses on strengthening livelihoods through resilience-building projects such as climate-smart agriculture and vocational training. Additionally, WFP supports national institutions by enhancing their capacity to respond to shocks and build inclusive social safety nets. By extending its systems to humanitarian and development partners, WFP contributes to broader efforts within the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.
This position is based in Gaza and reports to the Consultant Programme Policy.
JOB PURPOSE
To perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Within delegated authority, the Field Monitoring Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are not all-inclusive nor exhaustive)
Conduct process monitoring for WFP activities of all modalities, in accordance with established plans based on sample size and monitoring requirements. This includes filling structured surveys, conducting semi-structured beneficiary interviews, and reporting unstructured observations from each visit.
Conduct post distribution monitoring visits at household beneficiaries’ level collecting through conducting semi-structured interviews.
Conduct or support qualitative data collection, including through key informant interviews and focus group discussions, as required.
Report findings and observations to supervisor for timely resolution of problems and to ensure that the quantity distributed, and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards.
Maintain assistance programme(s) data in accordance with clear direction, such as records of commodity movements and programme check lists, to assist in the effective delivery and distribution of food items or non-food items.
Collate assistance programme(s) data in accordance with clear direction, to support programme reviews and informative decision-making.
Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services.
Receive and collate comments and feedback from cooperating partners and beneficiaries to support identifying programmatic issues with a view to fostering efficient operations.
Provide guidance for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to complete self-monitoring tasks to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas.
Prepare field mission reports to document programme implementation.
Follow set emergency response processes and procedures for emergency food assistance.

Functional Capabilities and skills required to deliver outputs
Strategic Management: Displays basic understanding of WFP’s policies and strategies to perform monitoring activities.
Relationship Management: Applies knowledge of WFP’s performance management system to manage resources and relationships to undertake monitoring actions to WFP monitoring quality standards.
Data Analytics and Visualization: Collects and summarizes programme data, including information on shipments, distribution site logistics, the status of persons in need and beneficiaries planned and reached for all programme assistance modalities and activities.
Programme Monitoring and Review: Gathers, organizes, and provides data on programme outputs, processes and outcomes, including distribution plans and the status, quantity, and quality of food and cash distributed and technical assistance provided.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or other related field. Advanced degree is an asset.
Language:
Fluency in Arabic – Basic English proficiency
Experience:
Candidates with secondary education, minimum of 4 years experience.
Candidate with a Bachelor’s degree (BA), minimum of 3 years experience.
