Job Description

The role

The Head of Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) and Cash will manage and provide technical oversight to the COVID-19 FSL and Cash component of the USAID/EU funded FCF|REACT program. The Head of FSL and Cash will be responsible for putting in place programme staff, systems and procedures and launching this component of the project. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing staff and partners, who will directly implement this work and will provide formal and informal capacity building and technical advice to both staff and partners to ensure high quality, child protection linked outcomes. The Head of FSL and Cash will represent the work to key stakeholders and on relevant technical working groups.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Qualifications and experience


  •  A minimum of 7 years of management experience in an NGO or similar environment, including significant experience running Food Security, Livelihoods and Cash programs with the ability to provide technical support to staff and partners.
  •  Masters degree in development or other social sciences (desired).
  •  Substantial experience providing technical advice and/or managing high quality FSL and Cash programs.
  •  Experience of working with local, international and government partners and supporting the strengthening of capacity, formally and informally.
  •  Substantial experience managing, mentoring and coaching staff
  •  Proactive approach to programme design, review and modification.
  •  Previous experience in external representation with key stakeholders and in technical working groups related to FSL and Cash.
  •  Experience and knowledge of managing budgets and expenditure.
  •  Experience working on USAID funded programs and with USAID compliance
  •  Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles, including rights-based approaches and child protection, including family based care.
  •  Fluency in written and spoken English.
