United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and it benefits both societies at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers.
Position: Individual Consultant-National Policy on Volunteering
Duties and Responsibilities
The objective of the assignment is to draft a National Policy on Volunteering. It would include review of the status of volunteering in India and an in-depth analysis of varied social, cultural, economic dimensions having a bearing on the volunteering by people. The review and analysis are intended to deepen policy makers’ and implementers’ understanding of key issues around strengthening volunteering infrastructure and promotion of volunteering in the country across all age groups and all sections. The Draft Policy would also articulate appropriate strategies for mainstreaming volunteering in the development agenda.

Under the overall guidance of the Joint Secretary (Youth Affairs) & National Project Director –“Strengthening NYKS & NSS Project” and UNV Country Coordinator, the IC will carry out the following:
