Term: full time - 35 hours a week

Salary: The starting gross annual salary for this tier role is $65,550 USD

The position and profile

AWID is looking to hire a committed individual with strategic vision and passion for political change to lead the Advancing Universal Rights and Justice (AURJ) Initiative as the Manager. The AURJ Initiative aims to uproot fundamentalisms and fascisms – to promote the universality and indivisibility of rights, challenge fundamentalist and fascist influences and actors, and advance feminist and gender justice agendas.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for the development, planning and implementation of AWID’s work with feminist movements globally in resisting and uprooting fascisms and fundamentalisms, and advancing feminist agendas, realities and narratives. You will take strong initiative in navigating a complex global context and identifying strategic opportunities for meaningful contribution and feminist social and political change, while building and strengthening feminist alliances and networks. You will be responsible for effective development and implementation of a broad range of activities, which may encompass knowledge building, campaigning and strategic communications, convenings and collaborative advocacy strategies in global processes and spaces. You will hold, develop, and maintain relationships with AURJ partners and allies, AWID members. You will lead and manage the AURJ team in alignment with AWID’s shared leadership values/culture.

As the right candidate, you will be understanding of AWID’s values, and be sensitive to upholding them in the way you take up the responsibilities of the role.

Successful applicants will have significant experience in a similar leadership role, in a non-profit feminist, social justice, or human rights organization(s). They should have demonstrated capacity with developing and coordinating research and advocacy initiatives and/or influence strategies collaboratively, including transnational and international work while working in or with organizations based in the Global South. They should have a strong ability to analyze key issues and themes related to fundamentalisms and fascisms, gender justice and human rights (particularly rights related to gender and sexuality) through an intersectional feminist lens. They would be someone who can thrive in a virtual environment working with diverse communities and movements across the globe, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.
