The MEAL Assistant will support to MEAL team in North region to the operations in Humanitarian Mine Action, Emergency, Protection and Livelihoods by conducting monitoring, accountability and evaluation activities.


  • Conduct field visits for data collection and verification through post distribution monitoring, focus group discussions and key informant interviews
  • Work closely with the MEAL Officer in ensuring MEAL activities in the region are properly tracked and monitored
  • Ensure field data and observations are properly and timely communicated to the MEAL Officer
  • Collect and handle feedback from beneficiaries
  • Prepares monitoring report (e.g. distribution, verification)
  • Participate in other data collection activities (surveys, assessments, etc.) as requested by the MEAL team in Country office and the Quality Assurance Coordinator in Kabul
  • Work in close collaboration and coordination with program team.


To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience within the humanitarian field
  • Experience in data collection
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position's responsibilities


  • University Degree in social sciences, humanitarian and/or development studies, Statistics, Management Information System, Business Administration, M&E, PCM or fields related to the position


  • Intermediate level of English is an asset, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in Dari and fluency at least in two of the following: Pashto/Uzbek/Turkmen
