National Consultant

This consultant will contribute to IOM project LM0551, Family-Centred Assistance to PALM Workers—Regional Pilot, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate pre-departure and reintegration training sessions, ensuring effective planning, including participant selection, venue setup, procurement of supplies, coordination with partners, and adherence to safeguarding protocols.
  • Support training delivery by overseeing logistics and ensuring timely acquittal of expenses in line with IOM systems and processes, while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment for all participants.
  •  Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of programs, including designing research tools, administering pre- and post-tests, conducting follow-up interviews with former participants, and tracking beneficiaries as per IOM systems.
  •  Ensure all project documentation is updated and filed in accordance with audit, donor, and organisational requirements.
  •  Assist in developing and disseminating programme-related communications, including social media content, press releases, and updates, and actively identify program lessons learned, challenges, and best practices.
  •  Draft correspondence, publications, and presentation materials in English.
  •  Provide support for programme visibility and dissemination, including participation in meetings with key stakeholders and ensuring effective communication of key results and messages.
  • Take notes at relevant programme events, share key information with the project team, and take on additional responsibilities as needed, including during emergency response.
  •  Undertake duty travel when required.
  •  Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education:

  • High School diploma with one year of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, development studies, social sciences, public administration, migration studies or a related field from an accredited institution.

Work Experience:

  • Previous experience with labour mobility, either through personal participation in a labour mobility scheme (such as the PALM Scheme, PLS, SWP, or RSE), or by having a partner/family member who has participated.
  • Experience in facilitating training sessions, public speaking, or leading group activities, gained through professional roles or community/volunteer work (e.g., through a church or youth group).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and at different levels, utilising strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in using organisational, time management, and planning skills to complete tasks efficiently, with the ability to follow instructions while being self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required (oral and written), working knowledge of Fijian language is desirable.
