Thinking of a Career in Emergency Management?
- BY Nicole Pelette
To support this mission, R4D seeks a Program Officer to join our rapidly growing Nutrition Practice to help co-lead and support two key projects:
DataDENT: The Institute for International Programs (IIP) at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and Results for Development are working together as part of an initiative, called Data for Decisions to Expand Nutrition Transformation (DataDENT). DataDENT is a four year-initiative (2017-2021) that aims to transform the availability and use of nutrition data by addressing gaps in nutrition measurement and advocating for strong nutrition data systems. R4D’s work on DataDENT primarily focuses on promoting data uptake and supporting decision-makers’ needs in nutrition. The first phase of R4D’s work included a landscaping of data visualization tools in nutrition and consultations with nutrition stakeholders globally and in priority countries to assess their data needs and challenges for decision-making. These analyses will provide the foundation for a strategic path forward on how best to improve data use for decision-making in nutrition.
Food Systems Policy Options: Results for Development (R4D), along with the Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London, have proposed producing a practical and actionable set of resources to guide national and subnational policymakers towards identifying and implementing policies that effectively reorient their food systems towards healthy diets and nutrition and inform funders’ investment choices. The resource guide will offer a harmonized narrative on the importance of transforming food systems for nutrition that policymakers and other stakeholders could leverage and practical recommendations to stakeholders on the right processes to design policies that take a food systems approach to nutrition. The resource guide would be accompanied by the compendium of evidence, curated into an accessible, policy relevant format. Both outputs will, to the extent possible, use a gender lens to think through the food system policies and bring in gender elements to the policy process and governance.
This position is a unique opportunity to not only lead nutrition team projects, but also contribute leadership to a growing and entrepreneurial team. This position is based in Washington, D.C., and will report to the R4D’s Senior Program Officer for Nutrition Data
