The incumbent will be responsible for the work of Polio Eradication Team in the Karachi office by advising and supervising them and facilitating their work. He/she will make independent decisions on corrective actions necessary to achieve the objective in his/her area of responsibility. He/she supports the programme to undertake all priority activities towards stopping polio transmission in Pakistan as guided by the Technical Advisory Group and in alignment within the GPEI strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Programme monitoring and delivery of results.
  • Advocacy, networking, and partnership building.
  • Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.

Education:

An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Social behaviour change communications, communications, Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or another relevant technical field.

Work Experience:

  •  A minimum of eight years of relevant experience and proven track record in leading large SBCC programmes and projects is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the polio eradication programme is required given the emergency nature of the TA position.
  • Background/familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
  • A proven track record in managing large teams and overseeing resources are essential.
  • Experience working in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or local language is an asset.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required.
