Project Grants & Finance Officer

The position will be based in HQ and report to the Head of Protection Unit, and lead on all finance and grant management on to the multi-country BPRM funded project, along with others such as BHA, in line with their policies and protocols. Daily collaboration will be with the project teams in the respective HQ and country/regional units, HQ finance and other support functions. The contract is full time (part-time may be considered based on qualifications), and permanent subject to funding availability.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Ensuring that contractual obligations are met in terms of finance and administrative requirements
  • Ensuring that donor rules and procedures are understood and respected
  • Ensuring financial monitoring and budget follow-up, and supporting project teams in budget planning
  • Supporting project managers to ensure implementation of projects according to work and budget plans
  • Supporting project managers in donor and internal reporting requirements; prepare financial reports and align with narrative; review narrative in line with agreement and proposal
  • Liaising with donors (e.g. reports, grants management and administrative issues)
  • Leading on all sub-contracts/agreements with partners, and ensure they align with donor regulations
  • Processing partner payments, and all other related payments related to the projects
  • Supporting project team on financial transactions (such as personal expense reports etc.)
  • Leading on all procurement processes in line with DRC and Donor rules
  • Support new / future project proposal development
  • Ensuring all grant documentation is up to date and uploaded to Dynamics (ERP)
  • Supporting any other finance and administrative tasks for the units, as and when required

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to previously have excelled in a similar role with responsibility for the financial and grant management of all stages of a project with a variety of donors, and preferably experience with US donors. Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in finance and grant management from a humanitarian/development organisation and/or from donor administration in similar position
  • Relevant educational background (university degree) and proven finance qualification
  • Fluency in both oral and written English, with experience in report writing
  • Experience with administrative and procurement procedures
  • Proactive, flexible and detail-oriented approach to tasks and a service-minded approach
  • Good collaboration and communication skills and ability to build good working relations with people from different cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
