The successful candidate will also contribute to the statistical reviews of the national accounts in countries applying to join the OECD (known as ‘accession candidate countries’).  The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of NAD.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of policy and measurement issues in the field of national  and environmental-economic accounts, undertake and lead research on such issues and produce timely responses.
  • Provide intellectual leadership, guidance and training on conceptual and practical issues in the area of national accounts and contribute actively to advance methodological discussions with other international organisations.
  • Draft working papers, articles, briefs and other publications relating to national and environmental-economic accounts.
  • Make presentations, as required, at meetings of the OECD Working Parties on National Accounts and on Financial Statistics, and the Conference on National Economic and Financial Accounts, and other OECD bodies or expert groups.
  • In collaboration with SDD’s Global Relations Unit, conduct statistical reviews of the national accounts and the SEEA in countries applying to join the OECD (the statistical reviews will include collection of information, evaluation of data coverage, quality and international comparability, and transmission of data and metadata to the OECD).
  • Develop and maintain good professional contacts with senior officials in countries (including from national statistical offices and national central banks) and international organisations.
  • Represent the OECD in national and international meetings on national accounts and environmental-economic accounts topics and contribute to workshops and seminars.

Requirements:

  • An advanced university degree or equivalent qualification in statistics, economics, econometrics or accounting.
  • At least eight years’ experience in the area of macroeconomic statistics, of which at least five years spent working as a national or environmental-economic accountant in a national statistical office, central bank or international statistical organisation.
  • Experience of conceptual or methodological work on national accounts.
  • Knowledge of the SEEA or of environmental statistics would be an advantage.
  • Experience in supervising the work of a team of statisticians and contributing to their professional development.
