The Specialist, Humanitarian Finance and Compliance will serve as the primary finance focal point on a portfolio of active humanitarian awards. This role will manage the life cycle of awards, overseeing the financial management for the Department of Humanitarian Responses’ (DHR) key institutional donors (UNHCR, WFP, BPRM, OFDA), in coordination with the humanitarian program unit. This role will report into the Associate Director, Humanitarian Finance and Compliance and will be responsible for award compliance with Save the Children’s accounting policies and donor requirements. This role will ensure accurate, complete and reliable financial information is maintained in both award and financial systems.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Portfolio Finance Management (50%)
This role will ensure accurate, complete and reliable financial information is maintained through the following actions: conduct budget vs. actuals budget analyses; ensure appropriate expensing and coding of award costs; conduct Life of Award (LoA) analyses for financial monitoring of spend; general ledger reviews, as needed; and determine corrective actions necessary to resolve errors, then independently manage follow-up actions between HQ and Country Office stakeholders.

Receivable Balances (20%)

Travel: Up to 10%
Minimum 3-5 years' professional experience, to include finance related work experience (budget management, financial reporting, bookkeeping, award management, financial data management...)
High School or Technical/Vocational Degree
Excellent analytical, organization, financial problem solving, communication skills
Ability to work with non-financial stakeholders and communicate effectively and help them understand financial processes and procedures
Must be detail oriented
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, many times with competing priorities and deadlines
Excellent written English and computer skills, advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Able and willing to travel internationally up to 10% of the time.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Experience working with general ledger and financial systems
Experience providing training to both finance and non-finance staff
Experience in humanitarian settings in the field
Knowledge of OFDA, BPRM, UNHCR and WFP
Demonstrated experience working across the full cycle of grant/award management from proposal and budget development through to reporting and close-out.
Knowledge of USG, UN and other donor funding mechanisms.
